5 great Putney beer gardens to check out this Summer

The Coat & Badge

- 8 Lacy Rd, Putney, London SW15 1NL

A large, sporting themed pub tucked behind neat hedges, The Coat & Badge’s garden is truly an urban oasis to be thankful for this summer. It is one of the typically flambuoyant Geronimo Inns group, and true to form is bedecked in regatta stripes, and adorned with lacrosse sticks, oars and cricket bats. It gets lively (busy) come the summer months, but you can book tables - definitely a good idea as with all the bats and sticks lying around, things could get ugly!

Green Man

- Wildcroft Rd, Putney, London SW15 3NG

Loved by locals for its country cottage feel on the edge of Putney Heath, it’s a great spot to wile away the hours on a Sunday afternoon, helped by their impressive selection of board games. Snuggle in a shady corner with a blanket after days spent on the heath or have a bash on the ping pong table!

The Jolly Gardeners

- 61-63 Lacy Rd, London SW15 1NT

The Jolly Gardeners outdoor area is a super cute take on British seaside dreaming - with its multicoloured ‘potting sheds’ that have been converted into tables. Hidden a little way from the High Street, this beloved Putney local is spared the summer throngs and is as such a favourite for leisurely Sunday lunches with the family - the atmosphere is warm and inviting, particularly come summer.

Spotted Horse

122 Putney High St, London SW15 1RG

Nestled in the Spotted Horse’s painted leafy Juniper Terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a balmy summer’s evening. The menu features all the classic British pub-fare favourites, but is executed with attention and care. Standouts are the truffle baked camembert and the mackerel niçoise. Enjoy alongside their selection of specialty gin + tonics.

The Waterfront

- Baltimore House, Juniper Dr, London SW18 1TS

A clean, modern alternative to the typical pub garden vibe, The Waterfront features a large outdoor terrace, sandwiched between the sunset reflected in both the pub’s glass frontage and the River Thames just below. Great for a little glamour - romantic date night cocktails say…?
