  • Who: (Very loosely) inspired by Napoleon’s exile to the tiny Tuscan island of Elba in 1814, it’s all neon pinks and fairy lights. Best for: Frosé.

Bar Story

  • Who: firmly wedged in the railway arches underneath Peckham Rye station, it’s a local fav that’s exploded over the past few years (and expanded into Peckham Springs at the back, which runs the same offer). Think candles, stripped industrial lighting and pretty decent wood fired pizzas. Best for: Espresso Martini.

  • What: 2 of the same cocktail for £7

  • Where: Peckham

Venn Street Records

  • Who: Records are most certainly the theme here, the walls are plastered in vinyls and memorabilia with the occasional bit of exposed brick poking through, kick back to the rock and roll soundtrack and sip one (or two) of their delicious cocktails. Best for: Daiquiris.

  • What: £9.50 for two cocktails

  • Where: Clapham

  • When: Every day 5-8pm

Lost & Found

  • Who: a kitsch front room vibe, they’re taking cosy to the next level, complete with floral wallpaper and gilded vintage frames. Best for: El Mariachi (tequila, cinnamon, chilli)

  • What: Buy one get one free on cocktails. And if you miss it, no worries - every hour’s happy with your South London Club card, enjoy 20% off Sunday - Thursday (can’t be used in conjunction with the happy hour offer)

  • Where: Balham

  • When: Every day 5-9




  • Who: a cool New York City vibe, exposed brick and booths, local artwork on the walls. Best for: Rum Fizz.

  • What: includes beers, wines, spirits and cocktails and take 10% off with your South London Club card

  • When: Tuesday - Saturday 5-9


The White Horse

  • Who: A traditional pub preserved through a takeover by independent hospitality outfit, Parched, that has revamped its list of ales, its kitchen and installed a pop-up cocktail bar at the back. It’s always popular but nicely slightly secluded from Rye Lane stampedes. Best for: Old Fashioned

  • What: Half price bottles of prosecco, £3 cask ales, £10 for two cocktails

  • Where: Peckham

  • When: Rhythm & Booze Thursdays (thirsty Thursdays to the locals) - every Thursday until 9pm.


Cocktail Embassy

  • Who: Two floors of sophisticated, low lit ambience with experienced bar staff serving up prohibition style cocktails. Best for: Martinis, all the Martinis.

  • Where: Crystal Palace

64th & Social

  • Who: like its sister the Southsider, 64th & Social is working the sexy, cool New York vibe, with a little quirkiness thrown in there as well. Best for: tropical creations like the Caribbean Jive - pomegranate, pineapple, passionfruit and rum.

19 Streatham

  • Who: a swanky, cosmopolitan feeling restaurant-bar space, with a nice outside area should you feel tempted to brave it anytime soon! Best for: Pornstar Martinis

  • What: All cocktails £5 and 10% off everything with your South London Club card.

  • Where: Streatham

  • When: Every day 6-8pm

Shrub & Shutter

  • Who: Edgy and experimental yet warm and friendly, these guys are in a league of their own when it comes to creative cocktails. Best for: Bar Keep’s Whimsy (give the bartender three words of inspiration and leave the rest to their imagination).

  • Where: Brixton

  • Who: a slick, London Bridge boozer with a great al fresco area outside that provides heater and blankets in cooler months. Best for: the Solero (vodka, passoa, vanilla, cream) - repeat after me: summer IS coming.

The Magic Garden

  • Who: ‘a festival in a pub’ expect a cosy mismatch of seats and cushions across this semi-covered garden cocktail lounge, complete with live music and great food. Best for: the Spiced Apple: zubrowka, Absolut citron, apple & cinnamon.

The Gantry

  • Who: All rustic charm, flowers and bright conservatory seating, it’s very Brockley. Best for: Fairy Fizz (absinthe, aloe vera, lychee, egg white)
