  • Who: (Very loosely) inspired by Napoleon’s exile to the tiny Tuscan island of Elba in 1814, it’s all neon pinks and fairy lights. Best for: Frosé.

Bar Story

  • Who: firmly wedged in the railway arches underneath Peckham Rye station, it’s a local fav that’s exploded over the past few years (and expanded into Peckham Springs at the back, which runs the same offer). Think candles, stripped industrial lighting and pretty decent wood fired pizzas. Best for: Espresso Martini.

  • What: 2 of the same cocktail for £7

Venn Street Records

  • Who: Records are most certainly the theme here, the walls are plastered in vinyls and memorabilia with the occasional bit of exposed brick poking through, kick back to the rock and roll soundtrack and sip one (or two) of their delicious cocktails. Best for: Daiquiris.

  • What: £9.50 for two cocktails

  • Where: Clapham

  • When: Every day 5-8pm

Lost & Found

  • Who: a kitsch front room vibe, they’re taking cosy to the next level, complete with floral wallpaper and gilded vintage frames. Best for: El Mariachi (tequila, cinnamon, chilli)

  • What: Buy one get one free on cocktails. And if you miss it, no worries - every hour’s happy with your South London Club card, enjoy 20% off Sunday - Thursday (can’t be used in conjunction with the happy hour offer)

  • Where: Balham

Southsider

  • Who: a cool New York City vibe, exposed brick and booths, local artwork on the walls. Best for: Rum Fizz.

The White Horse

  • Who: A traditional pub preserved through a takeover by independent hospitality outfit, Parched, that has revamped its list of ales, its kitchen and installed a pop-up cocktail bar at the back. It’s always popular but nicely slightly secluded from Rye Lane stampedes. Best for: Old Fashioned

  • What: Half price bottles of prosecco, £3 cask ales, £10 for two cocktails

  • Where: Peckham

  • When: Rhythm & Booze Thursdays (thirsty Thursdays to the locals) - every Thursday until 9pm.

 

Cocktail Embassy

  • Who: Two floors of sophisticated, low lit ambience with experienced bar staff serving up prohibition style cocktails. Best for: Martinis, all the Martinis.

  • Where: Crystal Palace
