The start of September doesn’t have to mean the end of summer fun! Head down to Peckham Festival from the 13th to the 15th September 2019! This 100% non-profit festival is the perfect way to celebrate Peckham’s community whilst spending the weekend soaking up the last rays of summer. The festival is supported by Copeland Park & Bussey Building, Social and #PeckhamIsOpen through Southwark Council.
The event is excitingly close, but Peckham Festival are still looking for volunteers eager to bring energy to the weekend. They need dynamic individuals with a flair for positivity and local knowledge about Peckham. This festival began its journey in 2016 and ever since it has been recognised as a celebration of Peckham’s inspiring creativity and this year they continue the tradition of the event being free to attend! It’s ultimate aim is to promote the hard work of local artists, makers, creators and community groups in Peckham.

This year will hone in on Peckham’s artistic talent with ‘Made In Peckham, Artists’ Open Studios’. The artists will be opening up their studios’ doors to the community in and around Rye Lane, including Peckham Levels and the Arches Studios on Blenheim Grove.
Some exciting events happening in Copeland Park include the Pedal-Powered Film Screening of the oscar-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody. Enjoy watching the film as you pedal along to the beat of all your favourite Queen tunes! Not much of a cycler? No worries! Feel free to bring a cushion or a blanket and relax instead! Join in on Saturday 4th September from 8pm.
If you want to truly connect with Peckham’s artistic community, then head down to the Community Hub in Unit 2B of Copeland Park, sponsored by Social. This is where the weekend will come to life with free art workshops and important conversation panels. Just a few of these activities include Do It Yourself- Community Drawing Workshop with Drawing People Together & OTW and an Extinction Rebellion Climate Crisis Discussion, both occurring on the Saturday.
Be inspired by the beautiful flower arrangements by Lisa King London and London Flower School titled ‘In Perfect Process’. This collaborative collection explores the notion of beauty and imperfection in nature, allowing Peckham’s community to experience and appreciate the wonders of our earth. These ideas will be expressed through both flower arrangements and a series of exquisite prints. It will celebrate the importance of the creative process, with these two mediums combining to create a wondrous exhibit.
