Hunky Dory - Vintage Clothing in Brixton
Hunky Dory is an independent vintage clothing shop in Brixton, South London. Established in 2008 by Ian Bodenham and Ian Johns, Hunky Dory was the product of 20 years of experience in vintage clothing at their previous venture 'The Observatory' in Greenwich.
Born on a barrow in Brixton Market in 1986, and following several years trading at Portobello and Covent Garden markets, Hunky Dory have gathered a large and loyal following of vintage connoisseurs from pop stars & celebrities to costume & fashion designers. Hunky Dory stock menswear, womenswear and accessories from the 1940's to 1970s, all sourced primarily in France, Italy and the UK.
Their concept is to source enduring styles in good quality fabrics, putting far more emphasis on style than fashion. More specifically, Hunky Dory caters for regular vintage shoppers and are committed to holding a well-edited collection full of extraordinary one-off pieces at affordable prices.
On top of that, both Ians try to make the shop a welcoming and stimulating environment, and see shops and retail spaces as important social hubs. No wonder they fit in so well at Brixton Village. Winners of the Best Menswear -and runner up for Best Womenswear for five years- at The Vintage Guide to London, Hunky Dory is a haven of vintage garments just waiting to be explored.
